IV Nutritional Therapy
The use of vitamins is commonplace in our society. IV nutritional therapy is the process of administering vitamins, minerals and nutrients directly into the bloodstream via an intravenous line (IV). This is the most efficient way of administration for any compound or medication (think of IV antibiotics and how much better they work than oral antibiotics). Ingesting vitamins even with a healthy intestinal tract only allows for 10-25% absorption of nutrients, minerals and vitamins. In addition, once absorbed the liver processes and destroys many of the orally ingested vitamins in a process called “first pass metabolism”. IV nutritional therapy bypasses the gut and the liver, administering 100of the nutrient directly into the bloodstream. It is the most efficient method of delivery.
Another major advantage of IV Nutritional Therapy is that many of the vitamins and nutrients we need only reach their peak effect at very high blood concentrations. Vitamin C, for example, can preferentially kill cancer cells, but only if the concentrations can reach 120-200 mg/Dl. The maximum Vitamin C level we can reach by oral intake is only 9.5 mg/Dl (a dose of 2500 mg of oral Vitamin C will reach approximately 2 mg/Dl). This effect is due in part to an osmotic gradient: high concentrations of a vitamin in the blood causes more of that vitamin to enter a cell, the site of its action. Most of the other vitamins and nutrients we infuse have been shown in numerous studies in the scientific literature to be very useful in a wide variety of medical conditions at higher blood concentrations (see below). Again, these high concentrations cannot be attained by oral intake.
In addition to treating existing medical conditions, regular infusions of antioxidants such as Vitamin C, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Glutathione and others, can be used to simply prevent and even reverse oxidative damage to cells and the body. The process of oxidative damage is responsible for aging, systemic inflammation, the atherosclerotic plaques of heart disease and stroke, and cancer.
All of the IV therapies delivered at IV for Life are specifically tailored to each individual patient by Dr. Popa after a thorough history, physical and laboratory examination.

Is Nutrient IV Therapy Safe?
Protocols for all types of medical conditions have been researched, tested and successfully used for over 30 years
What is IV Nutrition?
Intravenous nutrition is method of feeding vitamins, minerals, and other natural therapeutic substances directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive tract, where many nutrients may be partially or fully lost due to poor absorption. IV nutrition also creates higher than normal blood levels of the specified nutrients, which have been shown by the scientific literature to be effective in the treatment of certain conditions.
Who can be treated with IV Vitamin Therapy?
IV therapy can be used to treat a variety of conditions. Before starting any treatment, each patient will be evaluated by our physicians who will determine if this treatment is right for your needs. All the treatments are performed under medical supervision and they are individually planned fit each patient’s need.
What are the benefits of IV Vitamin Therapy?
Patients that receive IV Vitamin Therapy experience an increase in energy levels, they usually perform better in their daily activities and feel more energized throughout the day. It improves the performance of cells and boosts the immune system making you less prone to infection. It washes away plaques within arteries that can contribute to heart disease.
Does the IV Vitamin Therapy have side effects?
When used at an appropriate dose and range of infusion, there is a low occurrence of side effects. Some patients may experience a light burning sensation on the iv site at the initial moment of the infusion. Rare side effects include fever and headache.
